Irrationally upset that the piece about our local jazz culture that Baltimore Magazine just ran calls 10 Light Street "the New York-style Bank of America building." 10 Light Street is older than the Chrysler and the ESB!! I'm going to start calling it the "Baltimore-style Empire State Building." Is Camden Yards a "Yankees-style ballpark" now too? Midtown Manhattan does not have a monopoly over Art Deco
Why are we assigning the greatest bit of architecture in our city, which used to be the 2nd largest city in the country but has now been collapsing for decades, to a much larger and more glamorous city that has been a lopsided rival of ours for 300 years, especially given that the greatest examples of Art Deco in said city are younger than ours?! Lordy we need some self-respect as a city
