Tusky, Fedilab, Toot, or some other of the probably hundreds of options. The official one was rushed out in a hurry and lacks a lot of features.
It makes sense to use official stuff for a commercial service. Often it is the only option because they limit things. But Mastodon is open source, and there is no competitive advantage of the official stuff being built by a billion dollar company.
Besides, we are not even in "mastodon" really, like we would be in Twitter. Any server here might use some other software than Mastodon, and you would not know, as they can talk with each other.

To expand my edlin/vim comparison: Twitter is like wordstar, not for poweruser text editing, not for publishing.
