Mastodon folks who may not know me from Twitter. I do this thing annually where I sponsor a local (Vermont) young woman who drives a racecar. It's not quite sponsorship time yet this year but it's coming up soon.

Here's the thread on Twitter that started in 2020 that you can read.

Here's the piece of the racecar that she and her dad dropped off at my place today (it was from a part of the car that was rebuilt/restored). I love it.

“I have asked the local stock car racers how much it costs to put an ad on one of their cars. It's surprisingly reasonable. Thinking GO TO THE LIBRARY or similar. Female driver. Honda Civic. Thunder Road.”

Just a heads up that when I was getting my water meter replaced, Andrea's dad (the head of our town water department) asked if I would be up for sponsoring her racecar again this year and I said "Heck yeah!"

Chris dropped off some promo items from last year's season. She did pretty well!

All I do is chip in a few hundred crowdsourced bucks and a racecar in Vermont driven by a young woman has a pro-library slogan on it. Nothing finer.

@jessamyn Happy to throw some into the pot again this year — I’ll keep an eye out for details!
@jessamyn and in a wicked cool font, to boot!
@jessamyn wow, what a one-of-a-kind gift!! How cool is that?!
@jessamyn heck yeah! That's great!
@jessamyn I grew up close enough to Thunder Road to hear the engines on race night. I love this. Best library outreach ever.
@pbx when I first lived in Vermont I lived in Topsham, which is out past Washington and Orange on route 302 so Thunder Road was the first local race track I knew about. Still never been to an actual race. Maybe this year.
