10 years ago Steam released for Linux

I'm starting to feel old. I remember a time before Steam for Linux, back in the dark days even before the first set of Humble Indie Bundles, it's truly crazy how far Linux has come overall as a platform for gaming.

@gamingonlinux Thanks to this, I had an actual option to ditch Windows when 10 came out and drove me nuts.
@gamingonlinux I remember signing up for a Steam account during the beta because of this. Fun times.
@gamingonlinux Incredible how far gaming on Linux in general has come in 10 years.
@gamingonlinux 10 years and they still refuse to switch to only 64 bit libraries, causing issues like this
@gamingonlinux It was so long of a wait too! The rumours, the squashed rumours and even more rumours.. I was amazed when it actually happened!
@gamingonlinux Holy shit it's been a decade?! Man I remember when it was announced. I'd been Linux only for 2 years at that point and running Steam in Wine worked.. barely. Super exciting to get a native client and then watch the number of native Linux games increase year over year. Now the Steam Deck. Quite a ride.
@gamingonlinux It was my birthday yesterday and somehow it's this that makes me feel old.
@gamingonlinux In 10 years Gabe Newell will say: "We do not need proton any more"
@gamingonlinux hehehe, I remember installing either the Linux version and the Windows version on Crossover and taking a screenshot with both running, just because I could!
