The "Twilight Saga"'s Breaking Dawn comes to mind. I liked reading these books as pure shlock. The kind of guilty pleasure that has enough there to keep you entertained. Intentionally or otherwise...
But Burning Dawn? A book entirely written around setting up the finale. Only to deny us that finale in the most disappointing way possible.
