A literal mushroom cloud of toxic chemicals detonated over the American heartland, after lobbyists and government officials weakened safety rules.

Just curious: Did any of the Sunday news shows bother to even mention this?

@rbreich American journalism is mostly failing us
@rbreich I only watch Face the Nation it was not covered

@rbreich

No. It was in Ohio and nobody in media or famous on social media cares about Ohio.

Which is why it flipped Red.

@BlueWall @rbreich As an Ohioan, It’s red because it has been gerrymandered all to hell.

@Cheeksyahya @rbreich

It was easy after Corporate America just up and left us with their filth for non union labor down south and then overseas.

Then the kids left.

@rbreich Not sure if the Sunday news shows covered it, but I don't watch much US broadcast/cable news. I did read about it in Reuters, Washington Post and my local papers.
These are the additional toxic chemicals that were aboard derailed train — ABC News

Among the substances were ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and isobutylene.

@rbreich
Trump and his admin had only one main goal - dismantle democracy for money &/or cruelty. They weakened every department, every regulation, every rule and installed puppets everywhere. While I truly appreciate Biden’s accomplishments, I wish he’d move faster.
@rbreich in a world of massive pollution without restrictions why would Anyone be concerned? We are killing ourselves slowly and taking earth with US.
@rbreich I pay little attention to TV news shows for this reason. What's important and true is rarely addressed, or if it is, it's not given the emphasis it deserves. Why? Because that would not benefit the corporate owners of the news. This disaster has been covered on the internet. There will be victims. We'll see how that plays out.
@rbreich
No time for humans.
We're shootin down aliens man. They ridin down on that Jewish space laser to turn us all ghey./s
@rbreich being covered today on msnbc / nicole wallace. With on the ground reporter.
@rbreich In the UK the first thing the tories did after brexit was deregulate the water treatment industry allowing them to pour sewage into rivers and beaches.
@rbreich They'll begin covering it when it affects corporate profit$.
@rbreich they’re trying to blame it on Pete Buttigieg, like he’s the guy who weekend, the safety rules, owned the train, or operated the trade.
@rbreich Balloon-y rage and grievance sells more ads than actual news, apparently
@rbreich C'mon man, after decades of starving the country's coffers so we could have a few billionaires you know there's no money for safety improvements!
@rbreich
When a chemical plant in West, TX blew up, the state rushed in to pass laws so that such plants didn't have to tell locals what dangerous chemicals and materials they were using. Got to protect free enterprise!!

@rbreich - you are doing what the right does - your tweet presumes a link between the crash and reduced safety rules - you over generalize to make a point that can’t be made yet .

Safety rules that were relaxed deal with automatic braking.

No determination of train crash yet.

No link - you could work for Fox News
