@deevybee NorthernPygmyOwls are the species that live in my area of N. California. They mostly eat voles, mice & occasionally small birds. In summer they also eat large insects including grasshoppers, crickets & beetles. Another interesting fact: to help ward off predators, these tiny owls have special feathers, a pair of false eye spots on back of neck, to help fool attackers into thinking the owl is watching them. ☺️💚
