Attention Washington State Legislature #WAleg Please explain to me why the law says that once adolescents reach the age of 13yo, they are fully responsible for their healthcare choices. How is that even possible? And parents have no say, no access to their child's medical records, and are only included in these decisions IF the adolescents signs an ROI?!
They can't drive, but they can make huge decisions regarding healthcare without their parent? They can't vote, but they can keep their medical records a secret from their guardians? They can't legally drink or buy cannabis, but they can choose whether or not they need substance abuse treatment? TF kind of backasswards BS is this!?
Their brains have another 10+ yrs of development at least, and they are left on their own to make adult decisions while their parents/guardians have no access but DO pay the bills? #WAlegislature #WTF #BehavioralHealth #MentalHealth #Healthcare
