Why Cars Rarely Crash into Buildings in the Netherlands

YouTube
@cdamian @notjustbikes I also read recently that every 2 children get killed by slow moving cars in driveways and local streets.
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars hmm maybe one mor reason to get people the hell out of their cars and build walkable 15 minute cities with transit and trains. And bollards. Lots of 'em.
@darwinwoodka @cdamian @TheWarOnCars Narrower lanes and more trees, so that drivers know what speed they’re doing.
@jerseygryphon @cdamian @TheWarOnCars Absolutely. That whole "wide lanes and clearing trees for safety" thing is such bullshit.
@darwinwoodka
Definitely. It's amusing how the article suggests the solution of fortifying the businesses instead of targeting the cars.
@TheWarOnCars
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars Americans can't imagine the world without their cars. But then most haven't been to Japan where the 7-11 is simply the lowest floor of your building!
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars time to remove some of those 7/11s so it doesn't happen as often.
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars this is so bonkers, so many people being killed by drivers being bad at parking!
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars Holy shit! You'd think bollards would quickly pay for themselves.
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars maybe if we could impound that one car.
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars it's crazy and I say that from the UK where our roads aren't exactly great for this sort of thing... Either way a car in a storefront in my city is something that happens a couple of times a year, not on a daily basis!
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars that's insane. Thanks for sharing
@cdamian @TheWarOnCars Are there #FuckCars reddits in other languages and countries?

@sinabhfuil for German-speaking people, there's the #autobloed Community on #Lemmy:

This is basically the continuation of the subreddit going by the same name.
