y’know, I’ve done a lot of drugs in my life (tho in the last decade, it’s been restricted to only what I’m prescribed, with the occasional THC or moonshine).

and this person’s experience with ketamine for #depression has pretty well convinced me I’ll stick to lithium.

I’ve never used ketamine, but the last time I used LSD was pretty horrible and dark. can only imagine how bad ketamine would be, now. https://apple.news/AytTgSDtXS_W4n3n2A49puw

Perspective | I tried ketamine to treat my depression. It was terrifying. — The Washington Post

Ketamine has been promoted as a new, miracle antidepressant. It didn't turn out that way for me.

@carodjah that's sounds like some shoddy prep work. Doesn't seem the patient was anywhere near adequately prepared, or that the doc was suitably capable of helping him through his distress.

Of course it's hard to judge based on an article, but it's 100% not something to go into without much better prep than it seems was provided. Certainly not without talking frankly and at length about what to expect, and how to respond.

I've some bad experiences too so I'd have a lot of questions to ask before I even considered the first dose.

@mlapierre the mention that he was dealing with family health problems at the same time as this sticks out to me, that the doctor administering should’ve been aware of beforehand and prepared for.
@carodjah I did a course of ketamine treatments and it was an extremely positive experience. I believe the percentage of people who experience it negatively is quite low (its the same drug used frequently as anesthesia in hospitals).
