Totally agree with you on all counts except for the self-censorship!
Between the two superpowers states I believe that the Russians have the marginal moral high ground. They are less inclined to meddle in other countries affairs and I believe that they use biological weapons far less frequently.
The Russian government are fairly awful too, both now and historically, but they cannot match the United States for pure terrorism.
@PrecautionaryPrinciple I can't deny that, to be honest. But it's not an easy argument to make with the ongoing war and vile (online) attacks for even appearing 1% not-hating-Russia-with-every-breath-you-take. Nuance go bye bye. 🤷
It's frustrating that so many people aren't talking about this news, the self-censorship is strong. You're quickly accused for believing 'Russian propaganda' for reading almost anything US (or UA) critical. Your toot is the first and only I've seen on Mastodon.

Also, the last time I watched even 1 minute of tv was in 2018 - And the decade leading up to that was probably less than 24h total.
I resent being lied to and never acquired the taste for bullshit.
As far as Russian propaganda, I saw this one photograph of an Ukrainian's soldier's funeral where they were all dressed up in Swastikas and SS skulls, but I hope that was fake. It had to be fake, right?
