Some Mastodon observations from my early experiences:

1. Like β€œold” Twitter
2. Replies are less frequent
3. Replies are less annoying
4. Fewer people get pop culture references here
5. Terrible for news or breaking news
6. Rarely infuriating
7. Still the best alternative as Twitter moves inexorably to the far right

@Jake_Vig I rather prefer to use a good old RSS Reader for my news needs. Friendica (the platform that I'm writing from right now) does support subscribing to RSS links just like you would do on a regular account, yet I'd rather not have them mixed up with posts from others. It just feels like clutter to me, tbh. I follow accounts that do have an official account here on the fedi, and keep the rest on the RSS Reader, especially those websites I tend to access a lot.
