It's not one of the main time machine destinations but I think it would be pretty tight to pop over to november 13, 1833, and check out the leonid meteor shower, which hit an estimated 100,000 meteors per hour at its peak
Any of those weird medieval ufo sightings would be cool too, i'd love to know what the hell this was about
@prehensile a big meteor shower you see during the day?
@prehensile Oooh, it's a Beanworld crossover!
@porsupah @prehensile …wow. Hoka hey, man 🫘
@prehensile ergot is a hell of a drug.
@prehensile I’d like to know more about this image. Do you know what year and country it is from?
@prehensile Looks like small meteor impact. Could be about marbles instead I guess but I spend a lot of time looking at very old things.
@prehensile Initial draft of time machine regulation missed this destination. Quickly corrected but the damage was done.

*steps out of delorean, pushes goggles onto forehead*
Listen up spunions, stay away from that last batch of bread, that’s some dirty acid, you don’t want that shit. put these little squares of paper under your tongue instead. I don’t know what’s gonna happen in the sky tonight but I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be lit (wordplay!)
*plays pink floyd-live at pompeii at full volume on phone speaker as the townspeople shrug and begin tying me to a stake, lighting torches, etc*

@prehensile

@prehensile The Last Great Shadow War, as seen from neutral territory by a society that doesn't have flight. Don't know whose ships were interpreted as columns though - might be Lumati. The others could be Brakiri or maybe Yolu.
@prehensile It's obviously a space battle as witnessed by a preindustrial civilization. ;) “Strange New Worlds” S1E1 covered what would happen if something similar were witnessed by an advanced pre-spacefaring civilization like ours.

@prehensile Oh would that ever be awesome.

I actually dreamed of observing such a storm about a year ago.

@prehensile Somehow, that happening now - would be a social media nightmare. The nutters blaming NASA. The religious nutters. The whole thing. Can you imagine?
@prehensile that’s 25 a second! i bet it was something like this
@prehensile no way! That would be totally cool!
Leonid MAC - History of the Leonid shower

Brief history of the Leonid shower.

@prehensile that's more like "meteor rain"
@prehensile @elakdawalla I don’t know. They could be seeing debris from an unsuccessful time machine arrival.
@prehensile people always talk about changing the past with a time machine but they don't really talk about what events they'd like to see
@prehensile Oh wow, definitely, that would be amazing!
@prehensile How many witches were burned for their involvement that evening?
@prehensile I think about this a lot. For the 1998 Leonid shower I went way out of town to a dark site and observed all night. I saw about 500 meteors. many of them were audible, and many left vapor trails.
@prehensile Id annoy everyone. “Hey! Look at that one! Wow! There’s another one. Hey, there’s one!”
@prehensile Would also be cool to see sn1181 or one of the other visible supernovae.
@prehensile personally I’d go for a naked eye supernova
@prehensile
I would love to have been there to have seen that.
@prehensile I really like the picture.
@prehensile I’d be happy to pop back to last week and win a couple billion in lotteries

@prehensile Oo! Agree!

Oops! Remembers the movie that scared the bajeepers out of me as a kid: The Day of the Triffids. It starts with a gigundo meteor shower! 🤣 https://m.imdb.com/video/vi2842822425/?ref_=tt_vi_i_1
