Sheesh. EST case study.
1896 tenement flat with vapour impermeable internal wall insulation and electric underfloor heating.
Bills will be sky high and the wall likely to be deteriorating.
Would love to visit.

@Chris_Carus Location is probably identifiable from that out of window shot if you want to visit ;-)
@DanielRThomas haha maybe somebody can geolocate it.
@Chris_Carus Wince. People don’t seem to know how important breathability is.
@Chris_Carus On one hand, yikes. On the other, I've seen several cases that on paper should be car crashes, that are fine... on the third hand, lets put more sensors in stuff like this so we can get the data. Also, people providing advice above and beyond their capability/understainding is a big issue, but if you don't know you don't know. I probs gave questionable advice at times (maybe sometimes still do...)
@moistly_bricks Hi Toby. Yes it’s funny looking back on that post from February. Since then I’ve gained a lot more experience. I am still very unlikely to recommend PIR IWI but it does seem to work ok far more often than my training led me to expect.
@Chris_Carus from a moisture perspective, on a clear cavity or with a rainscreen I'd not be too concerned. But from a thermal POV, with any rigid boards there's a builabilty thing - gaps are *really* bad, worse than most people intuit - see Mark Siddal's recent, excellent summary for the PH Trust.https://www.passivhaustrust.org.uk/guidance_detail.php?gId=55

@moistly_bricks I’m careful not to make recommendations beyond my competence which means I always direct towards a competent designer. But the scarcity of designers means that IWI doesn’t happen. We need to find ways to scale up without needing advanced training and WUFI for every home. Loco Home has commissioned research to develop a risk assessment tool for common Glasgow archetypes/stones/exposures etc based on WUFI simulations to enable affordable scale. A topic for the Hub?
