anyone has an opinion on #dns0eu (dns0.eu) yet?
seems like their value proposition is based on
* EU based servers
* DNS-over-WHATEVER
* smart filtering esp. w/ ZERO plan
* independent (really?) non-government agency HQ in France

@maricn I am not intimately familiar with the project, but as a Yank I've trying to pay attention to it as part of a larger phenomenon. Here is part of a short thread that includes my impressions so far: https://infosec.exchange/@jtk/109666357400363024

@HardenStance @[email protected] The most gentle phrasing would be "it is unnecessary." A less charitable way of putting it might be "boondoggle". There are also complaints about complexity, security, inconsistency, and so on. I think many see it as regulatory encroachment without an appreciation for consequences. My personal take is that this sort of thing is part of a more interesting phenomenon of what I think might be best classified as techno-nationalism. This is stuff interesting panel discussions are made of.

@maricn It's basically https://nextdns.io but for free. I've been a NextDNS customer for a while and it has several features (dashboard, analytics etc.) that are missing from dns0.

@maricn #dns0eu
question how to start new domain: wait cooling time?
use ddns? get blocked
so back to hostfile. does not get changed by any actor , stays safe and static.
is that what we want/need?
@chrbre
💯 maintain status quo, why do you even need a new domain when there's everything already at google
