The richest 1% took home nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world put together over the past two years.

Folks, this is what oligarchy looks like.

@rbreich Cool, cool, cool. We read articles about it rather than take to the streets and protest the SHIT out of this horseshit.
@rbreich
It would also be a good idea to point out that the wealth required to enter the "1%" is about $1,000,000 (a million bucks). The vast majority of people in this 1% will be older and have worked most of their lives. A million is a house and savings for a pension. It is not as much as one thinks.
@rbreich
GOP = Greedy Oligarchs Plundering
@rbreich Remember this as you start to see more and more corporations adding tip lines to their bills, instead of paying a living wage.
@rbreich Bernie Sanders had a good moment just now, but he's not sure why.
@rbreich Isn‘t that cool? We get to experience how the peones felt back in feudalism. It is a collective workshop in history…
@rbreich they are just reaping the benefits of not buying coffee every morning and skipping lunch

@rbreich without the DoJ doing their job, the consolidation of markets will continue, abated only by token interruption of monopolistic activities. Market consolidation (acquisition rate exceeds market entry rate) is the engine behind the concentration of wealth. Late stage capitalism, meet end game capitalism.
@rbreich TWW: Humility and generosity.
Shield and spear.
I ask you not to seek wealth and prestige, instead always strive for humility and generosity, shield others from danger and be as a spear to their oppressors.
Wealth: is what you acquire from others not freely given.
Prestige: is bestowed to fill your empty vanity. *The advantage that the value of investments presents is paper. Humility and generosity are as scissors to it and the greed and envy it creates. OWOP
@rbreich the wealthy convince the poor to vote against their own interests using oligarch owned media propaganda. The poor seem to provide the necessary gullibility.

@rbreich

In theory, #democracy in a #republic means each person should get equal consideration of any good ideas for everyone.

In practice, the only ideas that get considered by the "elected" representatives are those coming from selfish rich folks who are most clever in bribing the politicians. Even more shocking, it turns out most of those "good" ideas are about ways to make themselves richer.

Job creators in a flying pig's eye. Just cunning money grubbers treating other people like grubs.

@rbreich And on and on and on. Sir, you have a very rich vein of material to hook your comments to. I am yet to come across another individual posting the volume of repeated content as you. Yes, it’s fucked. Yes, trickle down economics is akin to liquid manure seeping through a crack, but you seem to relish running around in the summertime saying how about this heat.
@rbreich Back to a form of feudal aristocracy?
@rbreich the 1% are squeezing the rest of us so hard something will have to give. No blood from a stone…
@rbreich Irs not an oligarchy unless these folks are influencing political power or in power. Otherwise they’re just rich.
@rbreich Then it’s just wealth inequality.
@rbreich more like a loligarchy because it’s a sick fucking joke, and the jokes on us.
@rbreich The worst part to me is: they don't know what to do with that wealth. Not bettering society and just do stupid things with it...
@rbreich Consider that 1% of 7b people is 70m people. How did the 1% of the 1% fare? My guess is 700k outpaced the other 69.3m people by another factor of 2 or even more.
@rbreich it’s also what class warfare looks like
@rbreich
I hear you. Best we understand, 'oligarchy' to fix the fundament issues that creates such.

@rbreich

I think many of us would like to be able to help, but I think more so, we want to have time to live OUR lives in the limited free time we have. There doesn't seem to be a solution.

@rbreich HMM…LOOKS LIKE POVERTY TOO, FROM WHERE I’M SITTING.

@rbreich

Oligarchy even assures that the info you are mentioning ever reaches "the masses", so why bother?
