Iβm speechless and devastated by the destruction and loss of life from two powerful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The world must do what it can to come to the aid of the many thousands of victims.
@georgetakei it is such a tragedy, made worse by the Russian siege on parts of Syria making necessary for the country to depend on Turkey for food, medical supplies; almost everything.
@georgetakei A tragedy πππ but what a opportunity to go in there and use all our technology and know how to help and save poeple. πππ Let's show the best of humanity in the face of this disaster πππ
@georgetakei itβs pretty bad, but it does look like there is a concerted effort to send help. It also looks like they have been diverted flights around the affected area so rescue workers can listen for people trapped in the rubble etc.
@georgetakei This is not an uncommon drill. When I first got to Europe, there were soon 2 earthquakes in Turkey, one killing ~2k, the second, ~5k. Our wing was airlift, and massive tonnage was delivered in support. We'll do our part. Turks are not particularly grateful for Western aid, though.
@georgetakei The footage is heartbreaking. What a massive tragedy. It's humbling to think how much at the mercy of the earth we all are. We live on this planet that we have little ability to control.
