@jeffjarvis and @glennf what do you think about the State Department's decision to move from Times New Roman to Calibri. When I was responsible for document publishing in the 90s at Dataquest and later Gartner Group, it was drilled into me that serif fonts MUST be used for text and sans serif for headlines and captions.

@laneparker @glennf As a matter of accessibility, I think it makes sense. I also think users should be able to select their own fonts -- e.g., one designed for the dyslexic -- technology making that possible.
As an aside, Germany made Fraktur (that incomprehensible, ornate, gothic design) its official typeface until, in WWII, it switched to a roman typeface so conquered lands could read their orders. (I tell the fuller story in my upcoming book, The Gutenberg Parenthesis.)
