@UnicornRiot The underlying #science used to back up the policy of sending these children to boarding school involved the belief that the surroundings in which a child was raised made a permanent impression on them; the settler colonials wanted indigenous people to become white & accept colonial dominion. The only way for that to happen was to erase indigenous language and culture by removing them from home. It was ghastly in so many ways. Donald Trump did not invent this approach.
