The Tatars again approached Terebovli in1675.They expected an easy victory.But commandant Khrzhanovsky courageously defended the castle.The commandant's wife,Sophia,supported the fighting spirit in the soldiers,she herself took part in battles with a saber.She carried two knives with her and threatened her husband that she would kill him with one,and herself with the other, if Jan decided to surrender the castle.The Turks lifted the siege,and songs,poems and a monument were dedicated to Sofia.

Oh yeah. ❤️ I also really liked this story. We rarely hear stories about women defenders. That is why they are so valuable.❤️
Two operas are dedicated to this woman: "The Defense of Trembovli, or the Courage of Khzhanovska" by Jakub Kublicki and "Polka" by Józef Wybicki. The writer Michal Asanka-Yapoli described it in the book "Trembovlska Gloria".
