Most of my embroidery is intuitive in that I pick colors and sometimes a stitch and then I just let the threads talk to each other. If anyone speaks “thread,” I’d love a translation cuz these had something to say.

@nancybaym I get Van Gogh vibes from the purple. I like whatever it’s saying. 🧵😍
@nancybaym That's absolutely stunning. Marvelous. Like an impressionist's dream wrought in fibers.
@nancybaym Love this Nancy! I only stitch on paper, so I don't know much, but is this just chain stitches & french knots? I'm curious about the thread -- is it pearl cotton size 3? It's much thicker than what I normally use (six-strand floss).
@vitak Yes those stitches. It’s a mix of threads, the cotton ones are 6 strands culled from your basic craft store thread selection. There is also wool, which is where that texture comes from.
@vitak PS I would love to see one of your paper stitchings. I haven’t tried that yet.
@nancybaym I don’t speak “thread”, but I see a seabed…brilliant color!
@nancybaym
Absolutely beautiful.
That's what I read.
@nancybaym
It's wonderful! How large is it?
@liroso 🙏🏻 it’s a 6 inch hoop

@nancybaym gorgeous is what they say 🤩
@nancybaym @MMAndersonArt It’s glorious. My 3 fav colors all together, and that lovely texture.
@nancybaym
This is just stunning work. Very, very beautiful.
🤩🤩🤩

@nancybaym middle ~80% of the hoop:

some type of yellow flowers (tulips, maybe?), with a willow shading them from above

and then the orange stuff on the sides looks like decorative framing, or something like that

@nancybaym It reminds me of the Sumerian goddess of heaven Inanna.
@AdaraAstin @nancybaym Oh, I can see that; your comment me think of this work in particular because of the colors and texture. https://www.artmajeur.com/zinaida-chernyshova/en/artworks/11753831/goddess-ishtar-inanna
