Exactly one year ago today, a certain formerly-feral kitty felt brave enough to explore our master bedroom for the first time.

What he found there blew his little street kitty mind.

That's right: today is the first anniversary of Napoleon discovering duvets exist.

By this point, he'd been stuck in the house with us for a few weeks. We'd captured him while he was sick, and once he was stronger he'd then been sent off for his jabs and to be snipped.

He had discovered scritches by this point, but was still unsure about this 'coming indoors' thing.

Then... duvets.

Imagine spending the first year of your life living on the street, scrounging for food, sleeping with one eye open, with the softest, warmest thing you've ever sat on being some straw someone left outside in a kennel for you.

Then discovering duvets exist.

And of course the discovery of duvets meant, shortly afterwards, he decided to try duvet hugs.

Which was basically the point at which (unbeknownst to him) we decided that if he came back post-release then he could stay forever.

@garius I love this picture and the description so much. Happy duvet day, Napoleon
@blazingskies @garius Seconded! Happy Duvet-versary to Napoleon. My (neglected when we got him) rescue void cat fell in love with hugs and is now all purrs and chirrups rather than all claws and teeth. He also discovered nesting between two big soft pillows on the spare bed, or sitting inside the towel cupboard, on top of the fluffy things 😸
