Socks have a fascinating & complex but little studied or documented culture & spirituality. Socks start out paired, but then, after an indeterminate time, need to separate to go on a solitary spiritual journey/walkabout. Sometimes one never returns. Other times you will find it months later stuffed in the corner of that fitted sheet you were too lazy to fold properly or unaccountably shoved down between the box spring & the bed frame.
