Not exactly my favorite "art style," but I like the spirit behind it, and it's well-loved by the citizens of Austin, Texas.
By Daniel Johnston? I don't know his music, but I understand he did this mural. And now it is in part a memorial for him.
(I used to work across the street, at the University of Texas.)
Memorial? <quickly googles> phew 😁
Attached: 1 image @[email protected] “The surface of the Earth is the shore of the cosmic ocean. On this shore, we've learned most of what we know. Recently, we've waded a little way out, maybe ankle-deep, and the water seems inviting. Some part of our being knows this is where we came from. We long to return, and we can, because the cosmos is also within us. We're made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.” http://www.sam3.es/painting/18.html

Here's a sampling of the many #murals in #Philadelphia
@RickiTarr Philadelphia is full of them, since the Anti-Graffitti Network became the Mural Arts Project in the 1970s or so. But I've never photographed the officia ones, just local efforts.
What city are your four?
@RickiTarr
The mural on the side of #BensChiliBowl in #DC is hard to capture with a phone. Here's a few of them as we head into #BlackHistorymonth.
#Mastodon keeps crashing if I try to add more than one pic, I'll try to post a few more shots of the mural.
