I live on a rural road but found out in Sept 2022 fiber internet was plumbed to a network box two houses away from me. I asked a technician working if I could get fiber at home from it, he said he'd put in the request.

I've called the company every month since begging them to install it. Today I got a call from a special projects guy there responding to a Sept request and I could likely get fiber this week, 10x the speed at 1/2 the cost I currently pay.

Navigating company org charts is hard.

@mathowie the place I rent (outside city limits of college town in Mississippi) got fiber to the neighborhood a month or two before I moved here. The owner was excited for me to get that set up, but there was a week or so when we moved in where they had to run lines within the neighborhood and wander through some forest to get it set up 😅

@mathowie in the end it worked out great — $80 a month for reliable gigabit internet. And it’s all thanks to the regional electric co-op! ✨
