Power On: Apple’s upcoming mixed-reality headset will be nothing like the original iPod, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch and put the company’s reputation as a guaranteed hit maker on the line. Here’s why — https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2023-01-29/apple-aapl-reality-pro-headset-2023-will-it-eventually-replace-the-iphone-ldhhulli
@markgurman So the article is about the impact of a product that hasn't been released or even seen by anyone?
@markgurman do you think the world misses Steve Jobs? Feel like the innovation has hit a brick wall. Just regurgitating new models of the same stuff

@markgurman VR may be a hit for Games and Porn - Games ist not Apples strongest side, Porn doesn’t happen at Apple 😜
so I say: If this Headset will be something like a „slightly better Occulus but in the controlled Apple Cosmos“ it will flop.

But then: Why bother to think about it - there is none. Not the slightest hint or announcement. All things Rumors đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

@markgurman the issue I have with all of this is that it seems to me like VR has more potential to replace the Mac than the iPhone, but so much of the focus here has been about supplanting the iPhone. Until we have the technology to create the standard looking AR glasses, I really struggle to see the mainstream use cases for these headsets. But replacing my daily work computer? Having “external” monitors anywhere? That feels useful in a productivity context.
@markgurman If it’s a glimpse of the future, then perhaps WWDC is the best time to announce it.
@markgurman I feel like this is the first new tech that’s going to make me feel old. TikTok has a bit of that affect, but I can already see kids laughing at me cause I’m still using a laptop instead of #mixedreality headsets.
