This project -- a mobile app that helps you understand corporate spying on you, and do something about it -- is a GREAT move by Consumer Reports.

CR, a venerable nonprofit, was slow to understand and adapt to the digital era. But with a much savvier board and leadership, and support from people like @craignewmark, the organization is making brilliant moves to help all of us.

The Consumer Reports Permission Slips app looks promising eventually but quite limited now.
Can't guess what results its requests will actually generate. The list of companies to which it offers to send requests is quite small, a few dozen. I found 18 companies where I had accounts or had divulged my email address in the past.
The app also offers to send out vague "auto requests," and when I clicked OK it queried 5 companies I'd never heard of. Not sure why.

@dangillmor @craignewmark would love to download the app, but not available in The Netherlands…
