Found a "shaggy fringe lichen" (Anaptychia palmulata) yesterday, but the name doesn't do it justice - it had the showiest blue flowers I have ever seen in a lichen.

@elias beautiful pics! I've never seen that color on a lichen either.

(Not "flowers" though. Calling them that is making me go 🤯 . Then again, "apothecia" may not mean all that much to readers either.)

@quixote I could call them discs or cups or just explain apothecia every time (the other day i ran into someone who had never heard the word "lichen") ... but eyes or flowers just sounds more poetic 🙂 And I'm not a botanist...
