Warning for furries: A production company is sending a deceptive casting call for a film that appears to be a furry documentary but is actually a hateful smear film.

It's the same deceptive tactic Matt Walsh used to trick trans people into appearing in "What is a Woman". They want to do the same for furries.

Please be careful and warn others!

“Why the fuck is a production company using my image for a casting call”

Evidence can be found in the linked thread. The producer is a right-winger who follows the disinformation specialists known as Project Veritas.
@beholdnec What an utterly awful thing to do 😱🤢
@beholdnec
First rule of Furry club. Don't talk about Furry club.
@beholdnec What people need to do is make their own documentary and spread it online. We don't need these conservative reporters smearing us with their bogoted bullshit.
The Fandom (documentary)

The Fandom is a documentary series that is focused on giving people a real-life look into the furry community as told by the artists and creators who have helped build it. The project is being led by Ash...

@yuki2501 @beholdnec there's already a documentary on the furry fandom's history

@LexYeen @yuki2501 @beholdnec That just raises even more red flags over the casting call.

@beholdnec

Why the furry hate? It's not for me, but I'm not into Star Wars or ComiCon role-playing. Because it's not my thing, I might find it a little risible. But, I'm not about to get up a pitchfork mob to go after them, either. And, if it's both serious for practitioners and harmless, I can empathize and restrain myself. To do less, I'd be a psychopath. Like the PROJECT VERITAS folks.

@CvilleTgr @beholdnec I can't tell if this is meant as a rhetorical statement or what, but the tone against the OP is kinda "...what"

@CvilleTgr @beholdnec
All furry hate is barely disguised hate towards queer people.
A lot is also right now attacks towards trans people, the "litter box" hoax at schools.
It's being used as a dog whistle, but the dog whistle has become an actual attack vector now, with legislation being proposed that will affect furries

Being used as a escape goat and attack vector against queer people in general, like drag performers

Any and everything that is not their acceptable flavor of cishet expression is to be attacked and destroyed

@beholdnec I thought so, since it seemed pretty suspicious when I first saw that.

@beholdnec why would PleasantPicnic go out of their way to not name the person behind that? weird move…

that being said, someone who wants to make a serious documentary should probably join the community and just talk to people and build some trust instead of popping out of nowhere. and right-wing connections or statements would are a huge red flag, of course…

@sofia More details can be found in the linked thread.
@beholdnec good timing considering the recent TERF slander, I have to say…
@beholdnec This honestly might be from Matt Walsh. It screams him honestly and I really have no reason to assume it's not
