I still pine for the intoxicating dream he spun for us, and some gullible child mind inside me can’t accept that the whole thing is (and has been since it’s first primitive iteration many years ago) a transparent scam.
@kathryntewson @gulovsen @chancerydaily @mmasnick and in fairness he’s certainly not the only person calling their product an AI when it’s not. If I had a dollar for every false claim about AI out there I would have approximately as many dollars as the total number of claims out there about AI.

@kathryntewson @HelloAndrew @gulovsen @chancerydaily @mmasnick From what I’ve been able to piece together based on how the site seems work, I think what he’s calling “AI” is really low-quality AWS Lambda functions doing Madlibs on poorly-written legal forms. I don’t think there’s a human involved in the process - certainly not one with any legal knowledge - but there’s no real “intelligence”, either, artificial or otherwise.
@kathryntewson @HelloAndrew @gulovsen @chancerydaily @mmasnick There’s probably some massaging via an NLP engine, but that’s not AI, either - it’s just heuristics, and applied outside their domain, at that. I think the reason you never got your documents is because the preprocessing is shit and your input borked up the NLP engine because it’s not designed for legalese. But that’s just a guess.

Or he has it disabled because it was causing problems. Or it never existed and I’m giving him way too much credit for at least trying to make something that had a chance of working. 🤷♂️
@kathryntewson @gulovsen @chancerydaily @mmasnick agreed, perhaps the fraud of calling this low end document wizard garbage “AI” is a deeper level of fraud than the average fraud of calling machine learning “AI”.
