Two Samsung T7s mounted via fast USB in the rear.
All fine. But I want to use CrystalDiskInfo to analyze a 10 yr old SSD. Sata to USB adapter cable. System doesn't see it. I think the disk is still good, but yeah, old.

Some adapter will need 3.0 Port or two USB ports in order to reach the required voltage. I’m assuming that would be a 3.0 port but not necessarily if it’s in an obscure spot, should be able to tell in control panel.

Don’t you have a sata cable in the box you can connect it to just check ? If you know it’s good you can transfer the porn off that one later 😉

@johnserwach FWIW, the connectors on the front of the case are blue ... so *supposed* to be 3.0, right?
Not sure about the “blue” but generally the ones in the front are the better one.

@johnserwach The drive that wasn't recognized started getting pretty warm, much warmer than other drives that were recognized and had no I/O problems on the same port & same adaptor.
That’s not a good sign !
@johnserwach As I said though, it's a 10-year-old SSD, and it used to be a system disk. So it's not long for this world probably. I wouldn't trust it with anything important.
