if it made money it would be growing the pie. Profitability = society's recognition of usefulness. Unprofitable businesses are not useful they dont make profit. They are not of service and there is no benefit derrived

@ForeignSubstance @protecttruth @plutus @rubecube12

Except you spend the money somewhere else- so indirectly you are growing the pie via Uber- if Uber ceases to exist you will then be shrinking the pie.

So, to test Elon I created another Twitter account and I already got it suspended!! Wtf - free speech my ass! #nazi

@protecttruth @rubecube12 @ForeignSubstance @plutus

To get out or to get suspended ?

@rubecube12 @plutus @protecttruth @ForeignSubstance

I think this got me suspended

@rubecube12 @plutus @protecttruth @ForeignSubstance

And then I took a Turing test to get unsuspended

This is the kind of weird shite Millenials are into nowadays. Check Danny's closet

@rubecube12 @ForeignSubstance @plutus @protecttruth we’ve seen his closet, he had like three pairs of Addidas and ten identical shirts πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@protecttruth @plutus @ForeignSubstance @rubecube12 and yet, it wasn’t that long ago Al gore was elected Senator there.
@johnserwach @protecttruth @plutus @rubecube12 So what do we think, guys?
@plutus @ForeignSubstance @protecttruth @rubecube12 you’re ready for league of legends πŸ˜‚taking full advantage of PCIe 4.0

@johnserwach @plutus @protecttruth @rubecube12 Am I doing something wrong here? The main NVMe drive, two other Sata SSDs (one about 4 yrs old, the other about 1), mounted fine internally.

Two Samsung T7s mounted via fast USB in the rear.

All fine. But I want to use CrystalDiskInfo to analyze a 10 yr old SSD. Sata to USB adapter cable. System doesn't see it. I think the disk is still good, but yeah, old.

@johnserwach @protecttruth @rubecube12 @plutus This one is just sata to usb-A, which ought to be okay for a 10-yr-old device?

@ForeignSubstance @protecttruth @rubecube12 @plutus

Some adapter will need 3.0 Port or two USB ports in order to reach the required voltage. I’m assuming that would be a 3.0 port but not necessarily if it’s in an obscure spot, should be able to tell in control panel.

@johnserwach @protecttruth @rubecube12 @plutus Same adapter, same port, read newer disks fine.

Could be the disk has finally died?

@johnserwach I suppose the older gear could require more juice?

@ForeignSubstance

Don’t you have a sata cable in the box you can connect it to just check ? If you know it’s good you can transfer the porn off that one later πŸ˜‰

@johnserwach You know, I have plenty of POWER sata cables, but I'm fresh out of data connectors at the moment. πŸ˜‚
@johnserwach Thanks. Now I'm curious. I didn't think I had any usb 2 at all on this box. I will have to recheck.
@johnserwach FWIW, the connectors on the front of the case are blue ... so *supposed* to be 3.0, right?

@ForeignSubstance

Not sure about the β€œblue” but generally the ones in the front are the better one.

@johnserwach My faster ones are in the back.

a pair of 3.2 gen 1 type-A

one 3.2 gen 2x2 C-type

a pair of 3.2 gen 1 A-types

a pair of 3.2 gen 2 A-types

@ForeignSubstance

Can u remove a diffeeent drive and insert this one?

@johnserwach Mount internally, you mean? Yeah, I could, but it's starting to get dark a bit. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@johnserwach OTOH, I look pretty cute lying on the floor holding this big torch between my chin and my tities, working on this thing. πŸ˜‚

Small hands are definitely a plus for this kind of stuff.

@ForeignSubstance

In that case, By all means, carry onπŸ˜‰

@johnserwach The drive that wasn't recognized started getting pretty warm, much warmer than other drives that were recognized and had no I/O problems on the same port & same adaptor.

@ForeignSubstance

That’s not a good sign !

@johnserwach As I said though, it's a 10-year-old SSD, and it used to be a system disk. So it's not long for this world probably. I wouldn't trust it with anything important.
@johnserwach Instead of getting dirty on the floor, I'm going to take ofuro now.
@johnserwach One other thing I just noticed. There is a blue light that comes on the adapter at connection time. On the other drives it starts blinking at first. On this problem drive, it just goes on and stays solid blue.
@johnserwach And of course there's no system sounds, as there are when you connect a device that's recognized.
@ForeignSubstance it sounds like maybe it’s failed, seems odd tho. You sure it’s not an ssd from a Mac ?
@johnserwach I will get to the bottom of this eventually. But no, not a Mac drive. And as said, 10 yrs old, so how much important stuff would you trust it with, and for how long, anyway?

@johnserwach I crawled down to the back of the box after I disconnected one of my T7s, and tried the drive there on a known-fast port. Same old.

So now we're down to adapter failure, or dead drive. I'll have to crack the case when I'm in the mood, to find out. But it's not a usb power problem for sure.

@ForeignSubstance

Yeah that seems likely. I suppose it could’ve just gotten jostled enough over the years.

@johnserwach I've got 8TB of storage without it, so prolly no need lose my mind over it. πŸ˜‹

@ForeignSubstance yeah that seems enough for an ample video collection. Or photos or whatever.

When was the last time you used the drive?

@johnserwach It was in the now-dead box, and fine. I didn't try to access it until yesterday though. And it's totally not recognized by the new box, at least via that adapter, anyway. I could have tested the adapter with another SSD, but those are mounted in the box now.

@ForeignSubstance

Gotta be the adapter I’m thinking if the drive was recently in use (or even just visible)

@johnserwach Wouldn't be surprised. A cheap little thing I found on Amazon.
@johnserwach Amazing how storage needs just explode over time. I video my jazz dance classes, and then study what I'm doing on the TV, and practice of course. If you save much, it really starts to add up.
@ForeignSubstance video can really ramp it up- especially if u do 4k
@johnserwach So in love w/ this new box. 😍 I mean it's ridiculously fast. The (IMHO stupid) little Windows circle of dots doesn't have time to even progress 180 degrees. I think total time from pushing the power switch to all-startup-programs-loaded, and everything is completely ready to rock, is about 12-15 seconds.

@johnserwach Mystery definitively solved I think. Swapped out with a mounted SSD and rebooted. The disk is just fine. So it was the adapter.

I'm also kind of "cheated" out of two sata connections (circled), cuz of the GPU. That RTX fellow extends WAY over the front of the MB.

Using the other two.

@johnserwach It's also a damn good thing I'm fluent in English. πŸ˜‹ That Asus MB User Guide is "English-only" (from a Japanese vendor, in Japan).

I don't know what the kids who didn't pass the test here do. πŸ˜‚

@johnserwach And here's another complaint, while I'm at it. πŸ˜‚ These Samsung T7s have little LEDs of course, but located close to the connector, not on the "front".

Who would ever position those in a way that the LED was visible (cable connector pointed at you)? I think, no one, is who.

@ForeignSubstance it’s a good question but, you know, SamsungπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

@ForeignSubstance

You would’ve really loved the 3090πŸ˜‚

@johnserwach Wonder what that would have done for my WEI score, which now stands at 93.5 😜

@ForeignSubstance

Good question- I only know hashrate πŸ˜‚
