Thank you all for the quick help with the edit feature 🙏
@pschiller And you didn't even have to pay to use it! Imagine that!
@pschiller I still have to practice a bit with my new iPhone  It feels like it was a lot 'quicker' and easier to get the right pics on the i12  đŸ“±
@pschiller we'll be supporting native edit at some point, it's on our ever increasing to do list. 😅
@paul While I’m sure the to-do list will bring many nice things eventually, I’m enjoying Ivory a lot already! It’s very nostalgic for me with the parallels to discovering an earlier Twitter through Tweetbot.

@BrokenFlows @paul Agree 100%.

@ivory is making Mastodon a great experience for me. Feels like days of yore.

Keep up the good work!

@paul How do I follow a hashtag using Ivory (which I LOVE, thank you so much!)
@DebbieBHandmade tap and hold on it.
@paul when I do that, I get an error “not found, can’t find what you’re looking for”
@DebbieBHandmade is it a hashtag with non ASCII characters like a umlaut?
@paul No, and it errors on any hashtag that I try to follow. I tap and hold, and I get a menu to copy or follow, but when I tap follow, it errors.

@DebbieBHandmade that's strange, when you have a moment and can use Contact Us in Settings -> Support that'll let us take a look at what might be happening.

Though just looking I bet what's happening is that your server is running an old version of the Mastodon software and it might not be supported on that release.

@paul of course - I’m sorry, I should have used the Contact Us in the first place. I don’t understand the server stuff - I made my Mastodon account years ago. Thanks for your time!
@DebbieBHandmade @paul mastodon.cloud is on Mastodon 3.4.6, which doesn’t support following hashtags (IIRC). You should contact your administrator and request they update to Mastodon 4.0.2.
@dgoldsmith @paul Thank you! I’ll do that. I appreciate your reply!

@paul @pschiller

Ivory is fantastic! I know there's a lot left to implement, but it's already a great app. Thank you for all y'all's work on it!

@paul @pschiller Uou should really check out Paul’s Mastadon client Phillip it a great example of an iOS app https://apps.apple.com/ie/app/ivory-for-mastodon-by-tapbots/id6444602274

@pschiller Next task for us as a community is to help with how to provide image descriptions for all images so people can boost your posts with accessibility in mind!
@pschiller I don’t know. I kind of liked “reconvery”
@pschiller I found out that you actually joined Mastadon which is the reason why I actually just joined this App! Anyhow just want to say I am a major fan of yours! Definitely miss your presence on the Apple Events! Anyhow nice to see that you are doing well Mr. Schiller! Wish me luck on figuring out on how to use this app lol!
@Toki123 Welcome! I hope you have a great time here. 👋
@pschiller thank you kindly for your response! I will most definitely enjoy being here haha! Have a good rest of the day 😎.
Ozone layer recovery is on track, helping avoid global warming by 0.5°C

NAIROBI, 9 January 2023 – The ozone layer is on track to recover within four decades, with the global phaseout of ozone-depleting chemicals already benefitting efforts to mitigate climate change. This is the conclusion of a UN-backed panel of experts, presented today at the American Meteorological Society’s 103rd annual meeting. Examining novel technologies such as geoengineering for the first time, the panel warns of unintended impacts on the ozone layer.

@pschiller Collective action against shared problems works! Who would have thought.
@SamTheGeek @pschiller that’s true, but the reason the Montreal Protocol worked is partly that ozone depletion was more likely to give skin cancer to a) people in the northern hemisphere, and b) people with lighter skin - so rich European countries and the US were more willing to take action. Meanwhile climate change is more likely to affect people closer to the equator who are more likely to be non-white and poor. 😟
@pschiller this is by no means a sign to slow progress. Let’s keep reducing emissions worldwide.
@pschiller It’s great to see the positive impact we can make. It helps to see that we can swing back toward the other direction!
@pschiller Ozone is a great example of a long-term project to improve the world that worked, and that most people don’t know about, because it started decades ago.
@pschiller Looking forward to 2040 :)
@pschiller this is fantastic news. Do you believe this is more sustainable moving forward than ever?
@pschiller is this a joke to the U2 album u let our iPhones download back in the day? ;-)
@pschiller beautiful contrast of colors
@pschiller amazing shot, greetings from portugal
@pschiller Have you listened to some of the new "Songs of Surrender" re-imagining of their music U2 are doing? https://music.apple.com/ca/album/songs-of-surrender/1664119641

@ichris @pschiller This is the first I’ve heard of it, very cool.
@ThreadLamont @pschiller Oh sweet! Yeah the full album comes out in March, 2 singles released so far. Very different takes on their songs, but fascinating to hear imho.
@pschiller can You prove that you're real Schiller?
@pschiller Amazing đŸ€© photo
@pschiller Word. If nature can somewhat heal like this, maybe there’s hope for more!
@pschiller I remember visiting the Golden Bridge for the first time. It was so breath taking! There is something surreal when you see something in real life that you have seen post cards, movies and magazines most of your life. #shotoniphone summer 2019. This one a ‘beautiful day’!
@pschiller that’s a perfectly purty sky! Any filter on that, or is that straight out of the camera? Camera app or something else?
@danimal No filter or edits. I cropped it and used the auto exposure button in the Photos app (the diff from original is slight)
@pschiller Please do use alt text for images to aid users with disabilities. Accessibility is one of Apple's greatest strengths, so this is a bit embarrassing.
@thomholwerda yes, sorry, that is important, I will do better
@pschiller we have edit ability over here where the grass is greener! Glad you found it. Check out @ivory and @mammoth
@pschiller Please take a look at my shotoniphone Pixelfed (the better Instagram in the Fediverse) site: https://pixelfed.social/shotoniphone

@pschiller (and others responding with spectacular photos) would you please consider adding some alt text describing your work?
@pschiller Great shot. Is this a 48 megapixel ProRAW?
@pschiller wow, Marine Boy, haven’t seen him in a while. It’s on YouTube more recently.
@pschiller
I took a similar one in 2013
@pschiller thoughts on the new U2 music? I dig it. Different, but I like different.
@pschiller Wow! Up close, you can really tell its age. That tower needs work. #goldengate
@pschiller this shows really good what's wrong with iPhone photography right now... there's no way the sky was this ridiculously blue... it's just ugly.
@rajamagdich To each their own. I like the bold, graphic colors in this photo. The decaying art deco tower standing tall against a perfect blue sky is a story I wanted to tell. FWIW My camera photographic style setting here is “vibrant” and I used the auto exposure setting to push it a bit more.
@pschiller this is not a "perfect blue sky"... It's just a fake, way too vibrant one.
