Here in New Mexico, we ended qualified immunity for cops. They threw lots of tantrums about it, but if I tell a cop here to fuck off, I'm not likely to be shot. I am also a middle aged white woman, which mostly factors, but still.

They can't act like complete fools here.

@JenWojcik I remember how cops all screamed that they couldn’t do their jobs if they didn’t have qualified immunity… which only came into effect when they were caught breaking the law.

@JenWojcik I always thought that them screaming “I can’t do my job unless I can break the law with impunity!” Was a shameful complaint, and yet, with a straight face, the head of FOP, Police Chiefs, etc., stood up at press conferences to make that complaint publicly. The outrage they displayed was pout on steroids.

Because that's the intelligence level those jobs can attract. I have never known a smart cop. Ever. Most of the criminals I know are actually brilliant.

Nothing but brain dead bullies with a God complex.

@JenWojcik RCMP refused to hire anyone with an IQ over 110. Fired their smartest investigator (he developed method for finding serial criminals of violent crime, used all over the world) because he was ‘getting too much attention & it was a distraction from the force.’ Go figure. I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s brilliant.
