Read my lips:

An audio show that can only be played in an Apple player on an Apple device is not a podcast.

An audio show that can only be played in Spotify is not a podcast.

Repeat ad nauseam for any other proprietary audio show platforms.

A #podcast is an #RSS feed with enclosures of audio files which are playable across the whole ecosystem of podcast players.

Any reporter who reports on exclusive audio shows and calls them “podcasts” are doing a grave disservice to their audience.

@Klaxun @kevingamin @jaredwhite I recently learned that YouTube provides RSS feeds for channels. It doesn't advertise them at all, and you have to search really deep to find it, but it works. I don't know for how long, and YT is still a crappy platform, but I've been happily using that for several years now to feed the videos into my mail/news/feed setup, and play them in mpv via yt-dlp… 🙃 https://danielmiessler.com/blog/rss-feed-youtube-channel/

@daniel_bohrer @Klaxun @jaredwhite Nope, it's still there. I dropped my YouTube account address (https://www.youtube.com/@KevinGamin) into my Feedly and it saw an RSS feed. I was able to subscribe to it.

@Klaxun @daniel_bohrer @jaredwhite Yeah, the app might not see the videos as downloadable files, so these would not be true podcasts you could subscribe to.
