Ah, just got an email that 23 teachers at the middle school have covid. Not one sub could be found to cover them. School may close if (when) more teachers get sick. (We're not caring for teachers, parents or kids. Still.)

There is an event horizon rapidly approaching in which all of these teachers have been repeatedly reinfected and can no longer work at all. And an entire nation's children immunocompromised by multiple covid reinfections before age 10.

We are completely unprepared for it.

@violetblue And an entire healthcare apparatus understaffed due to repeat infection, trauma, burnout and death, too.

I am horrified to think what we may be living through in 10 years or so.

@violetblue ...or, more realistically, having COVID will not result in sick leave except in the case of severe symptoms. It will be accepted as being endemic. That's simply where we are. The warnings were ignored. The horse bolted. Shutting the stable door didn't make a difference.
