Anyone waiting for a good Mastodon client for macOS should go buy Spring for Mac on the App Store, then use the link in Settings → About Spring to download the beta of @MonaApp for Mac. It’s already spectacular, and developing fast. Here I have it set up to follow three timelines, including a pinned hash tag.
@sentience @MonaApp is the Mac version just for M1/2?
@vmstan @sentience Also available for Intel Mac.
@MonaApp @sentience Got it going, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the columns setup like you have in your screenshot.
@vmstan @MonaApp Choose “Add Divide View” from the (⋯) menu at the top. Do it multiple times for the number of columns you want.
@sentience @MonaApp oh yeah ok, I stopped after adding the first because it put some big black line down the middle but when I added a third it went away.
@vmstan @MonaApp Yeah, I noticed that too. On the list to fix, @MonaApp?
@sentience @vmstan That’s a feature. You can drag the divide bar to resize (for two divide view layout only)
@MonaApp @vmstan I think maybe just the black styling (which looks good on mobile) looks like a bug on Mac.
@sentience @vmstan I will think about it. But it’s pretty similar to the Split View divider on macOS.
@MonaApp @vmstan Yep. To me it makes sense as an edge-to-edge UI element, where each end of the divider connects to the black screen margin. On a window, it seems too high-contrast and distracting to me.
