Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Those who do learn from history are doomed to watch it repeated by those who didn’t.
@Meyerweb history always repeats itself. If you study it this is a piece of evidence. The only thing we can change about it is our attitude.
@Meyerweb Those who watch History do neither.

@Meyerweb when I was in college, I would walk through the block of Greek houses, observe the people there and think, “ignorance truly is bliss.”

Watching this country now reap the fruits of evangelical labor in the 80s and 90s, really is a mindfuck for me.

Anyway. All this to say that I feel this in so many ways.

@Meyerweb Ain't that the truth...
@Meyerweb History has been repeated over and over again

@Meyerweb

Eric, while this may appear to be history repeating itself, I don't believe it so.

It seems to me to be like "SOUR MILK". Everyone knows it isn't going to get better! They keep putting it over their Frosted Flakes, in their coffee and drinking a glass or 2 daily.

Then, all they do, is complain about it! It smells or it doesn't taste good or there's something wrong with that cow.

History has nothing to do with it! I think it's just a lack of intellige... oh well.

@Meyerweb gosh dang I've been thinking this a lot lately, but didn't have such succinct words for it
@Meyerweb Seems that these days it's: those that do not learn from history are — those that do not – those t – th - ttttttttttt
@Meyerweb Accurate but not exactly cheery, eh?
@Meyerweb apparently a lot of people learned from history that 'those guys were doing it wrong, watch this'
@Meyerweb like allowing the Dump back on FB
@Meyerweb or you could, you know, stop being so fatalistic and step up and help fight against those things happening again.
@Meyerweb For proof that this country is bottoming out, one has to look no further than Florida. The notion that 49 states are allowing American people to be treated the way they are is unacceptable. We’ve gone to war with other countries over less.
@Meyerweb yeah but different people learn different things from history
@Meyerweb … Those who do find other ways to err. 😳😄

@Meyerweb

history doesn’t actually repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

@Meyerweb there's a third group, those who believe they are smarter and can do what earlier people have failed, but succeed.
Sometimes they're right, but more often it's just hybris
@Meyerweb And those who repeat history never learn anything.
@Meyerweb And sometimes there are those who are determined to repeat it.
@Meyerweb and all those people who did, but are sure it won't happen to _them_, not _this_ time.
