Perhaps someone can explain a mysterious #tech thing to me.

Last weekend, my work-issued #iPhone sat on my nightstand charging from Thursday night on. When I unplugged it Monday morning, I received a notification stating that I had been in contact with a person who had tested positive for #COVID. Now, how is this possible when I had squirreled the phone away from people for more than three days?

@tombradleyjr Your work phone has an app on it for Covid?
@tombradleyjr @DarkeConteur Not necessarily an app. iPhones have an "Exposure Notification" feature built into their settings.
@pwrac @DarkeConteur It makes no sense, though, as only my wife and I came anywhere near the phone.

@tombradleyjr @DarkeConteur If I remember how it works correctly, it uses gps to take note of other iphones you pass that has the exposure setting on. Then once the person knows they have covid, and they let their phone know, it tells the other phones that took note of them recently that they have covid. Could be wrong though.

Just keep an eye on symptoms, etc, you know the deal.

@pwrac @DarkeConteur Thanks, I have been. Better Half and I also have four jabs each, so while I'm not too worried, I'm still careful.
