Ian Patterson@dangillmor @doctorow I don’t see any fuss about this outside the US. Is that because the price hike is only applicable in the US? Or because other country’s health systems are negotiating/mitigating/not accepting the rise? Or that they’ll simply use other vaccines from other suppliers, cheaper ones? And isn’t this just like every other US drug story? epi pens, insulin to name but another two?

ConanTheActuarian@dangillmor @doctorow Well worth reading. I was not surprised about what Maderna is doing. I was surprised to learn of the involvement of the Gates Foundation, which is supposed to be set up to help poor countries in Africa and other areas gain access to advanced medicines at prices they can afford. It is a shock to learn that they are doing the opposite.

It is a giant tax shelter, a reputation laundering device, and a means for Gates to influence public policy on a global scale while undermining democratic institutions.
