Anyone waiting for a good Mastodon client for macOS should go buy Spring for Mac on the App Store, then use the link in Settings → About Spring to download the beta of @MonaApp for Mac. It’s already spectacular, and developing fast. Here I have it set up to follow three timelines, including a pinned hash tag.
@sentience @MonaApp When @MonaApp comes out fully - would we need to buy again or?
@talios @MonaApp Yes, likely I’d say. I’m okay with that to support the work being done on it, but you might not be.
@sentience @talios @MonaApp I really don’t want to buy a defunct (or any!) Twitter client just to try out a beta Mastodon client. Seems a bit perverse?
@paulpap @talios @MonaApp If supporting a hard-working developer whose awesome Twitter app has been clobbered by Twitter’s sudden, unannounced policy change is perverse, then consider me a pervert.
@sentience Don’t get me wrong, @MonaApp looks fantastic. 😀 I just prefer the approach @ivory took to their beta testing. Open it up to as many as possible, then charge for it when it’s ready.
@paulpap @MonaApp @ivory I can see arguments for both. Ultimately it’s your money; vote with your wallet. 👍🏻
@sentience I feel bad now that @MonaApp has been so transparent and reasonable with the pricing structure! Maybe I will buy Spring after all…
@paulpap @MonaApp 😆 I mean, buy it if you'll get value out of it. No need to feel bad; your posts may well have prompted them to share their plans!
