Anyone waiting for a good Mastodon client for macOS should go buy Spring for Mac on the App Store, then use the link in Settings → About Spring to download the beta of @MonaApp for Mac. It’s already spectacular, and developing fast. Here I have it set up to follow three timelines, including a pinned hash tag.
@sentience @MonaApp When @MonaApp comes out fully - would we need to buy again or?
@talios @MonaApp Yes, likely I’d say. I’m okay with that to support the work being done on it, but you might not be.
@sentience @talios @MonaApp I really don’t want to buy a defunct (or any!) Twitter client just to try out a beta Mastodon client. Seems a bit perverse?
@sentience @talios @MonaApp Hoping to put down some cash for @ivory in next few days, and then Mona when it hits the AppStore.
@paulpap @sentience @MonaApp @ivory Oh yeh - @ivory is looking good - so far @MonaApp looks good so far
@talios @paulpap @sentience @MonaApp @ivory Ok - MonaApp _really_ likes to hang/deadlock every so often for me - maybe when it’s refreshing? Can’t even drag the window around at times. Hrm.
@talios @paulpap @MonaApp @ivory I found it hung when it was requesting permission to display notifications. The prompt was hiding in the top corner of my display. Once I approved it, it didn’t hang anymore.
@sentience @paulpap @MonaApp @ivory Interesting - no sign of prompts here - but next time it hangs will keep an eye for it! Cheers
@sentience @paulpap @MonaApp @ivory Nope - Mona’s just locking up far too often for my likely at the moment - and no notification prompts. But to @elk for me for now.
@talios @paulpap @MonaApp @ivory @elk Sorry to hear it! @MonaApp known issue?
@sentience @paulpap @MonaApp it almost felt like a dns/request timeout on a blocking ui thread or something Iike that - never done Mac dev so not sure how the threading models there work
