7 people dead and 1 injured in yet another mass shooting today. This one also in California, Half Moon Bay.

That's the 38th mass shooting of 2023

That's 2,715 total gun violence deaths in 2023

It’s only January 23 😑
#GunReformNOW

@QasimRashid This is the same logic that brought us such gems as the Patriot Act.

@QasimRashid I’m reading FBT report and found 30 incidents occured in 2019. This 2020 report worries increasing of shooter, but 38 cases in two thirds a month?

https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/active-shooter-incidents-20-year-review-2000-2019-060121.pdf

@taiyo different metrics. the 38 is 3 or more casualties (dead or wounded)..the 30 in the FBI is 3 or more killed in single incident.
@QasimRashid that is an insane number. By that ratio there will be 42,967 deaths by gun violence in 2023.
@QasimRashid I used to live in HMB, it’s a sleepy beach town. This is unimaginable to me.
What incentive do we have to stay in this country? Substandard overpriced education, for-profit overpriced substandard health care, and the risk of being shot to death literally anywhere.
The 2nd Amendment is utter garbage. America has a Port Arthur every five days, it’s past time to get rid of the guns.
@QasimRashid But, guns aren’t the problem. 😡
@QasimRashid You can have gun control in the US.
There is nothing in the constitution against that.
Actually, one could argue it requires it: “A well regulated militia”? It’s like no one noticed that big word in the middle.
I know that’s not the whole phrase, and the right to bears arms is there after a comma. Am just struggling so very much to understand how the arms industry keeps a lid on sanity in this country. #guncontrolYesteray
Thousands of illegal guns melted for use in California's infrastructure

Nearly 5,000 illegal confiscated guns were melted at an annual event in Rancho Cucamonga, ready to be turned into material that will help transform California's infrastructure.

ABC7 Los Angeles
@QasimRashid wow. more than 110 per day more than 4.25 per hour
@QasimRashid that statistic and the tragedy that has happened is something that I cannot get my head around. To be fair I dont know too many US citizens but those I have met I cannot imagine involved in such an outrage. Where I live there are far stricter gun laws and the police are generally unarmed (with guns). #WorldsCollide Thoughts go out to all involved.
@QasimRashid
So that’s roughly 118 deaths a day! Knowing US this sounds perfectly plausible to me!
It’s a friggin war zone on par with Ukraine!
@QasimRashid
And people ask me if I feel safe living in Mexico.
@QasimRashid Safe now threat connected to last week @charles_ex base level gun is water
@QasimRashid That one looks personal. The shooter was Chinese/American and all the victims were Chinese.
