@Mariewalsh18 @mikec415 Correction: politicians who take NRA money prefer not to do anything.
For a number of years now poll after poll has shown the majority of Americans favor stricter gun control. But money talks. And the NRA gives enough money to politicians that they don't give a shit what most Americans think.
@mikec415 Every time there are cries of “let’s do something about this” and then nothing happens. It’s awful.
Are there enough Americans being born to cover the number being shot?
Also, is “gunshot wound” now regarded as “natural causes” in the US?
@mikec415 And this happened just a few minutes before you posted that:
Oakland police say 8 people shot, 1 killed at gas station Monday evening

@mikec415 I tried to Norris McWhirter of the BBC's 1980's program 'Record Breakers' to see if we'd be in the running to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records this year.
Then I remembered he died in 2004, which is when I moved to the USA. A country where most mass shootings don't even warrant a mention on national news. A country where, other than those directly effected, it's no more a thing than the weather.
Citizens are not bothered. Effected are happy to be compensated moneterily. Voters are complacent. In democracy it should not happen. People's voices are suppressed and dominated.
