Peet's may be the next coffee chain to see a surge in union organizing, now that baristas at the Peet's in Davis, California, have voted 14 to 1 in favor of unionizing.

"We will not be the last," tweeted Peet's Workers United.

@mar_kelp @rbreich Boy, that’s an eye opening wiki! They certainly are not what they used to be!!!
@rbreich Good for them. I have had a meeting there once.
@rbreich "break room"?? As a prior manager with Peet's, the "break room" was a run-down futon in the back storage room. Also, totally agree that there was no logic with wages, that was also true for front-line managers.
@rbreich I grew up in Davis Bicycle town of America
@rbreich I'll bet it started when they were bought by that German conglomerate that forced them to dump their in-house teas and carry that Mighty Leaf dreck.
@rbreich I hope Peet’s is less dickish about it than Starbucks. I’ve been avoiding Starbucks because of its behavior. Of course now that I’m in Finland it’s easy.
@rbreich Oh neat! @subunitA used to work at that Peet's location in Davis! She even kept her opening shifts at Peet's while she was working full time at a startup in S.F. because she liked her co-workers. We actually first met at that Peet's, before she started working there.
