About 2 years ago I tested Final Fantasy 14 on my Linux desktop. FFXIV ran great, but was pretty tough at the beginning. It took a long time to get started, and it wasn't particularly exciting.

In the meantime, the entry should have become more pleasant through some updates. I'll test it again on my next vacation.

Maybe even on the SteamDeck.

@RadiantBlack I can confirm the base game runs flawlessly on Linux. Personally I use the xivlauncher by goatcorp, which brings its own wine version and handles the nitty gritty for you.

Only when you get into modding, advanced posing, or combat tracking, it can get a little tricky, since all these third-party tools are developed without Linux in mind. So you're probably gonna be limited to a more or less vanilla version of the game.
