@sumo @Mark What I recall of that era, at least in our area (Central Pennsylvania), was more of the “Required Dealer Installed Options” game; things like a $5 roll of vinyl pinstripes, applied by the $4.50/hr kid in the wash bay, listed at $199.95, $499.95 undercoating & such. Local dealers with “hot” new models, particularly the Honda/Toyota/VW stores, were big on this.
But I don’t recall any of this brazen “Market Adjustment” crap, and I worked at dealerships all through the ‘90s & aughts…🤷♂️
