@epilanthanomai #SignsAndCodes I woke up to multiple follows from the instance "soc.ua-fediland.de" this morning. One of which, "@[email protected]" contained Ukranian neo-Nazi imagery. The other two featured the names of weapon systems. Instance rules in translation smacked of "free speech zone" stuff. I have strong sympathies for Ukraine, but this is way over the line. I'm defederating the instance and any users here are welcome to appeal that to me.
@roadriverrail @epilanthanomai I don't think any of them were genuine - some piss poor Photoshop skills in evidence with those flags. The mastodon.art admins have been in touch with the admins concerned - while there are power cuts in Ukraine the other lot sign up with fake accounts, apparently. No huge surprise sadly but it's going to be a git sorting the wheat from the chaff.
@roadriverrail @epilanthanomai Might be worth a chat with some other instances to build a consensus approach?
@eaterofsnacks @epilanthanomai In general, if there were a way to have trusted admins from other instances within reach for consultations, I'd certainly use it. We're a small instance with maybe 10 active users, so we do most of our moderation out in the open so we can have consensus on our instance, but as a small instance we're also disconnected from the scuttlebutt.
