After a 2 month experiment, I'm back to using Things for my task management.

That said, there are a few things I will miss from Todoist…

Things 3 is back on my home screen!

@birchtree where can I find the Hyrule and Mario Kart posters?

@birchtree thanks! Loved the Things 3 and 4 video series btw
@birchtree switching between these two recently and each of it has pros and cons that for me rather difficult which one to choose.
@adityadaniel For sure, on the whole I prefer Things, but I tried to show the stuff Todoist just does great that I’d love to see Things adopt as well 😁
@birchtree Do you not have an issue with the inability to check recurring tasks off early?

@greghiggins457 You should watch the video 😋

But yeah, it’s definitely annoying sometimes.

@[email protected] with your video about restarting your Things setup made me come back to it and I couldn't be happier!

@birchtree Good video! I've bounced between the two, but prefer Todoist for a few reasons:

1. Cross-platform compatibility is a big plus.
2. I rely heavily on reminders/alerts, and Todoist makes it easier to set them when creating tasks.

My biggest complaint with both is realy an iOS issue - as far as I know, only Apple Reminders is allowed to display persistent reminders that stay on your lock screen until dismissed.

@edmistond Yup, this is all fair! I’m lucky to use Apple devices at home and work, so Things can cut it for me, but that’s certainly not universal.
@birchtree even I did a similar experiment but I stayed back with Todoist. The one and only reason was to be able to share lists with my spouse
@birchtree Some of these are the reasons I’m still struggling with staying completely with Things.
@birchtree Thanks for your perspective on that! Every point you made showed me why I chose Todoist over Things as my task manager :)
API and the sorting in the today view are I guess my most important reasons but the natural language is a close contender 😂

@FlohGro Haha I totally get it! The big thing for me is that I find Todoist kind of miserable to actually use. The functionality is great, but I just don't like the feel of it.

Literally no software can make everyone happy 😂

@birchtree Absolutely - that’s why many competitors in the market are good for all of us 👍🏼

I think it also depends on what you’re used to. I started with omnifocus but then switched to todoist for some reason (e.g. cross platform) now I rely on features that todoist offers compared to others :) I could not live without filters anymore since I want to built my own custom „home view“ 😊
