An astounding image of our moment at the precipice:
Climate activists standing against the inhuman-scale machinery of the open-pit Lützerath brown coal mine, with a wind farm visible in the distance.

@climatebrad I can't be happy about this during an energy crisis brought about by attempted ethnic cleansing where the goal was to prevent European resistance by energy blackmail.
Any other time, I'd be cheering. But not now.
@portaloffreedom @climatebrad If it were a choice between nuclear and coal, I'd go with nuclear 100% of the time.
But the nuclear NIMBY lobby is stronger than the coal NIMBY lobby in Germany, so... it is what it is. :(

@michael @climatebrad
Yeah... You realized what happend this summer?
And it is to slow, the old ones will have the same problems like in France and have to low capacity and possible new ones will need 10+ years, even without the protests.
So we should put the money in renewables.
Another photo of the massive coal mining operation in Germany showing the scale of the machinery.
Look how tiny the cars are in comparison. (Those tiny white things to the left of the mining rig are cars.)
